Industry Review

There are several ongoing developments considered relevant to the Findhorn ecovillage microgrid. Seeing as the current system is monitored and controlled using the Open Energy Monitor, this is a valuable company to investigate for further integrations. This includes the hardware available for monitoring/ control and developing modules that may be used for smart logic. Carbon Coop is another example of a company currently developing demand side smart technology and will also be investigated. From an economic perspective, the Octopus Agile tariff has been explored as an economic driver of increasing renewable energy usage. The performance of these technologies will then be investigated with the use of a case study.
